Planning and Preparing a Pitch [U21: P3, M2]
Learning outcome 2: (u21) Be able to create a proposal and pitch for an original media product based on a client brief. [P3,M2]
Original pitch Feed Back-
- how will you gain more popularity than genius?
- recording behind the scenes footage of songs being produced (app) combines the behind the lyrics nicely with the app
- Possible Tertiary Audience that would use only the app instead of print
- 'Bonanza' name doesn't fit with the dark themes of indie for first genre
- price- go higher than £3
- target audience- Based around the indie genre, not the magazine. Change it so that theres a wider range for secondary target audience
- good digital mock ups
- good links to target audience throughout
- go through and edit the text and pictures on the powerpoint
All my changes I've changed into dark pink, underlined, bold in italics so that it's clear what I changed. I also rearranged the photos and text so that nothing was over lapping.
Final Presentation-
Possible client questions-
1Q- Why don't you have a website?
1A- My demographic is primarily teens and young adults, therefore they're more tech savvy and would rather have something simplistic like an app rather than a website.
2Q- Would you have an online subscription?
2A- The app will have bonus features for the magazine if you use the QR code, meaning you only have to pay the £3.50 price for the magazine, and special app features, rather than paying a separate fee for the app. In the future I could consider making subscription deals where the copies are sent to your home.
3Q- what graphical / illustration elements do you want to add?
3A- I would like to add some line art effects over the image, possibly in white or yellow from my colour scheme, just to make the artist pop from the page and keep the indie pop aesthetic. (Mood Board for examples)
4Q- How will you add illustrative elements to your cover?
4A- Using photoshop and Microsoft Autodesk sketchbook at home with a graphics tablet.
5Q- How will you break down a song? Will you write a song and break it down or break down a pre existing song?
5A- If I can break down an existing song that would be easiest, but if I'm not allowed, I will find a friend who writes songs or come up withs something simplistic on my own, either way the break down will be my own content and opinion on the song and the artists response will be written by me, even if the song is not.
6Q- Why pink and yellow for the colour scheme?
6A- the colour scheme will change slightly depending on the band, but pink and yellow are interchangeable, but still recognisable. For example this one is indie pop, so the pink and yellow are light and muted. But if i did pop, it'd make the pink more vibrant like a hot pink. And if i were to do rock, the pink can be exchanged for a red and the yellow can be more vibrant. There will always be black and white on the cover so that if I need to remove a colour that doesn't work, the magazine can be monotone.
7Q- Are the cover lines on your mock up final?
7A- No. It was just to give examples and brainstorm some possible cover lines and text for the real product.
